Family Assessment and Planning Team

The Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) works with the families to assess their needs and strengths and develop the best possible plan to address the issues that have brought the youth/family to the CSA process.

Members of the FAPT include:

  • representatives from:  Department of Social Services, Community Services Board, Juvenile Court Services Unit, and Public Schools;
  • a representative of a private organization for children’s or family services;
  • a parent representative  (see CSA Parent Representative Application)

CSA Parent Representative Application

Montgomery County actively recruits for parent representatives for the Family Assessment & Planning Team (FAPT) and the Community Policy & Management Team (CPMT). A parent representative cannot be an employee of any public or private program which serves children/families. We seek parents whose children have received services and supports through the FAPT process whenever possible. The ideal individual is a parent that shows leadership skills, is a strong advocate for children/families, and has a level of compassion and interest in the well-being of other children and families. A parent representative must complete a Statement of Economic Interest/Conflict of Interest Form for appointment. Parent representatives are appointed by the CPMT to the FAPT.

If interested, complete the application and submit it to Montgomery County CSA, 210 South Pepper Street, Suite D, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
