The Montgomery County Department of Fire and EMS celebrated its one-year anniversary with a special ceremony and recognized 10 individuals for their life-saving actions. Eleven awards were distributed to the 10 individuals whose response to a 911 call resulted in saving someone’s life.

At the April 24 ceremony, the following individuals were recognized for their life-saving efforts:

• Zachary Doran, Paramedic, response to an overdose call in July 2022.
• Sarah Guida, Advanced EMT, response to an overdose call in July 2022.
• Derek Rogers, EMT, response to an overdose call in October 2022.
• Gerad Sherman, Paramedic, response to an overdose call in October 2022, as well as his response to a vehicular accident in December 2022.
• Robert McGhee, Paramedic, response to an overdose call in October 2022.
• Bailey Hager, Paramedic, response to a cardiac arrest call in December 2022.
• Cara Marshall, EMT, response to a cardiac arrest call in December 2022.
• Logan Underwood, Advanced EMT, response to vehicular accident in December 2022
• Murjan Hammad, Paramedic, response to a cardiac arrest call in December 2022.
• Steve Spangler, Paramedic, response to a cardiac arrest call in December 2022.

 “We are so proud of our fire and EMS volunteers and the brave individuals who responded to these life-threatening situations,” said County Administrator Craig Meadows. “It is our duty to make sure when someone dials 911, they receive a timely response by qualified and trained individuals.”

In addition, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors recognized these individuals at their April 24 meeting.
