Public inspection of records

Documents are available for public inspection weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Land records are available by subscription through Logan Systems Inc. Print the user agreement, have it notarized and return to the Clerk's Office for approval. Subscriptions are processed with an automatic monthly credit card charge or by company check for a one-year subscription. An individual subscription plan is $50 per month. A business subscription plan is $200 per month and includes five user accounts. If you do not currently have a subscription to Logan Systems Inc., you may come to our office to access documents.

Documents may be copied for $0.50 per page.  Copies from our office may be certified for an additional $2.00 per document.

Excess Funds
A list of chancery accounts the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is currently holding. This report is updated at the end of business day on the last day of each month. Different types of cases are in this report. You may look up the case numbers on the Virginia Judiciary System website to see if the cases apply to what you are looking for.

Genealogy
Land records/deeds, property tax records, limited Revolutionary and Civil War records, free negro records, civil and chancery court records (lawsuits and divorces), marriages and estates

Judgments
General District rendered judgments, filing fees

Marriage Licenses
Obtain a certified copy of an existing marriage license
