Tonia Winn has been named the Director of Human Services, effective May 1, 2017.
"This position is critical and finding the right person for the job is very important," said Carol Edmonds, Deputy County Administrator. "We had several strong applicants, but Tonia’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the field made for an excellent match. We are pleased to have her as part of our team."
Winn currently serves as a member of the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Commission, the New River Community Action Board, and the Fairview Home Board. In her role as Human Services Director, she is responsible for administering the Alternative Community Program, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and the Children’s Services Act (CSA).
Prior to joining Montgomery County, Winn has spent the last 23 years working for the Department of Social Services, the 27th District Court Service Unit, and the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Home.
Winn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business Management from Emory and Henry College in 1994.
