Look how fur we have come since 2017!

Graphic for ACAC 5 Year Anniversary CelebrationOn July 23, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center is celebrating its five-year anniversary. You’re invited to join in the festivities, which include Nana’s Sweets and Treats Food Truck, a petting zoo, facility tours, giveaways, and of course, adoptable cats and dogs.

Since opening its doors in 2017, the Animal Care and Adoption Center has taken in 3,988 cats and 3,693 dogs, as well as 169 farm animals and 255 pocket pets and exotic animals. During that time, 1,659 lost pets have been reunited with their owners, 4,929 animals have been adopted, 2,429 animals have been fostered and 992 were transferred to animal rescues.

The facility was prompted by a needs assessment, feasibility and building program study by Shelter Planners of America. The 16,300-square-foot facility with 12,600 square feet enclosed and a 3,700 square foot covered space is now featured by the Shelter Planners of American as a prime industry example.
