First positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in Giles County. New River Health District adds second drive-thru testing site.


  • The New River Health District confirmed two additional cases of COVID19 in the district. Both are residents of Giles County. Both are self-isolating at home, and health department staff are conducting a contact investigation, to identify those who had contact with the patients, assess their risk of potential exposure and provide medical and public health measures to protect individuals and the community. To protect privacy, no other patient information will be disclosed. Read the news release
  • This week, the Montgomery County Public Health Task Force continues to operate drive-thru testing sites, as part of the regional COVID-19 public health response. A site will operate on Monday, April 6 at the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg. Testing continues Wednesday, April 8 and Friday, April 10 at Blacksburg High School. Retail operations at the Mall will continue as normal on Monday. Store hours and access will not be affected by the testing site. Read the news release
