Volunteering at the Center
Interested in volunteering at the Animal Care and Adoption Center? To volunteer, you must be 18 years old and be able to have sole control of an animal. Anyone under 18 may accompany a parent or guardian who will handle the animals. Additionally, those under 18 assist with tasks such as cleaning, doing laundry, preparing toys with treats, and putting bedding in kennels.
The center welcomes clubs and other large groups to volunteer. Please contact our Volunteer/Education Coordinator for scheduling.
All volunteers must read the Volunteer Handbook and sign a waiver.
Dog Walking and Cat Socialization
In order to walk dogs and assist with cat socialization, volunteers must first attend a training session. Sign up online to do so. New sessions will be added periodically, so check back if you don’t find one that suits you.
Other Ways to Help
The center also needs people to assist at the front desk, handle transport of animals, and foster care.
In order for the center to place appropriate animals in prospective temporary homes, fosters need to complete an application. Download the application and save it to your personal device. (If you do not have Adobe Acrobat to complete the application, use Internet Explorer to access the application, complete it, and save it.)
Community Service (Court-ordered or attorney-recommended)
As space is available, the center will accept court-ordered or attorney-recommended community service participants to help with cleaning, landscaping maintenance, etc. Individuals with court-ordered or attorney-recommended community service will not have contact with the animals and must complete an application prior to service.
