Montgomery County 4-H Reality Store
The Montgomery County Cooperative Extension is holding their Reality Store Wednesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. at Christiansburg High School. Reality Store is a budgeting exercise in which volunteers role-play with the students. Volunteers are needed for the following shifts: 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. If you can work one or two of the shifts, call the RSVP office.
Montgomery County’s Broomin’ & Bloomin’ is Saturday, April 27!
Citizens and social, civic, and church groups are invited to participate in this annual litter pickup event. Volunteers are needed to help clean up roadsides, parks, streams, school grounds, and other public properties. Trash bags, gloves, and safety vests are provided. Filled trash bags are picked up from the roadside or cleanup site. Please talk to your school, church, civic, or scouting group and consider participating in this event. Volunteers may choose the site or select from locations needing to be cleaned. You can sign up to volunteer online or call the RSVP office for more details.
English Meadows - Blacksburg Campus
Volunteers are needed for a monthly birthday party on the last Friday of the month from 3-4 p.m. Birthday party volunteers socialize and serve cake, ice cream, chips, and punch. Contact Activities Director Brittney Rakes at (540) 317-3463 or Brittney.firstname.lastname@example.org to help.
LewisGale Hospital Montgomery
Volunteers are needed to fill multiple vacancies at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery. Positions include Main Desk/Floor, Outpatient Lab Greeter, Outpatient Waiting Room Desk, and Activity Cart. “Hospice Care is more than helping people die with dignity; it’s about helping them live out LIFE with LOVE.” Being an Amedisys volunteer is about sharing yourself with others, listening, smiling, and being willing to hold a hand, send a card, make a phone call, or read a story. Other ways to volunteer include sharing your passions of creating blankets, baking cookies, crafting, and honoring veterans. The ways are endless. Service, empathy, compassion, and smiles – required. The Salvation Army
Volunteers are needed on Fridays to help cook at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen on Roanoke Street in Christiansburg. If interested, you must also be willing to serve meals and clean up when needed. For more information, contact Sherry Bowman at (540) 553-1607.
