Meet the Sheriff 

Sheriff Hank Partin began his career with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in December 1993. Rising through the ranks, he began as a patrol deputy and most recently served as Captain over the Civil/Courthouse Security/Criminal Warrants Division.

From 1988-1993, he worked for the Christiansburg Police Department, attaining the rank of Patrol Shift Sergeant.

In 1987, he began his law enforcement career with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District.

Sheriff Partin served in the United States Army from 1983 until retiring as Sergeant Major in 2004.

A native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, he graduated from Cape Charles High School in 1979, and received his associate’s degree from Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC. After enrolling to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Radford University, his life took a different turn when he joined the U.S. Army.

The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement, investigations, civil process/warrant service, court security and corrections functions. Sheriff Partin and his Command Staff oversee a team of more than 120 trained professionals that take pride in serving the citizens of Montgomery County.

Mission and Strategy
At its core, our mission is to prevent and reduce crime, and through a partnership with our community, create a better quality of life for ALL citizens.  Our mission includes: effective crime prevention programs, proactive school safety initiatives, deputies who are approachable by the public, and accountability to all citizens.  Our strategy to accomplish our mission by using innovative and progressive initiatives infused with the core values of honor, duty, and courage.  Our initiatives include these four corners: quality interaction with all citizens, school safety, protecting the elderly from fraud, and a partnership with Help Save the Next Girl.
