Jennifer Tatum Harris has been named Public Information Director, effective February 17.
“We were fortunate to have several very qualified candidates apply for
this position, but after we interviewed Jennifer, her experience,
communications skills, and enthusiasm made hiring her an easy choice,”
said County Administrator Craig Meadows. “She is a great addition to the
County’s leadership team, and she has already been very active with a
number of projects and activities.”
Prior to joining Montgomery County, Harris worked at Virginia Tech for 10 years, serving most recently as the Director of Communications for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Enrollment and Degree Management. Prior to Virginia Tech, Harris worked in corporate communications and public affairs at Perdue Farms in Salisbury, Md.
With nearly 20 years of experience to include internal and external communications for both privately held and non-profit organizations, Harris specializes in strategic planning, media relations, community affairs, and digital communications.
In 1999, Harris graduated from Eastern Shore Community College with an associate’s degree. In 2006, she graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, journalism, with a focus in professional and technical writing.
