Lost pets

If your dog is missing, please come by the shelter Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. or Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.  It is best to look for yourself and not rely on over-the-phone descriptions. If you find a dog, please call (540) 382-5795.

Photos of lost dogs held at the shelter are frequently posted on the Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control Facebook page. The NRV Lost and Found Animals website is another great resource for locating lost pets.

Please be advised that dogs and puppies surrendered to the shelter may be adopted by new owners the same day or subject to euthanasia. Dogs picked up running at large or strays with no identification are held five days, not counting the day picked up. Dogs with a collar or other identification are held 10 days, not counting the day picked up. If the animal shelter receives a dog wearing a tag, it may be traced to the owner.
