Register to vote

In order to vote in any election in Virginia, a person must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Virginia, 18 years old by General Election day and registered to vote in the precinct in which he or she resides.

You may register to vote year round with the exception of 22 days prior to a general or primary election or 13 days prior to any special election. Voter registrations are available at the County Government Center, the Department of Motor Vehicles, all post offices, all libraries, on the Virginia State Board of Elections website and on our forms and publications age.

Overseas voters--both civilian and military--should visit the Virginia Department of Elections website for more information.
