Courthouse

All judges' and clerks' offices opened for business in the new Courthouse on Oct. 9, 2012. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Nov. 7, 2012. The 108,274-square-foot building faces Main Street in downtown Christiansburg. It sits adjacent to the former Courthouse, which is being renovated as a public safety facility to house the Sheriff's office and regional 911 dispatch center.

The Courthouse project architect, Thompson & Litton, incorporated nine courtrooms and office space to meet projected needs based on population estimates for the next 25 years. The state-of-the-art building features a two-level parking structure and enhanced security, including secure transfer of inmates to the courtrooms.

DeVere Construction Company of Alpena, Mi., was awarded the contract to build the Courthouse.
