Sheriff's Office
Crime Prevention

The Crime Prevention section of the Sheriff's Office provides community policing and educational programs.  Part of the Support Services Division, Crime Prevention is supervised by Lieutenant James Bowyer and is made up of four School Resource Officers and two Crime Prevention Specialists.  Deputies teach both D.A.R.E. and Class Action programs in the schools, as well as, assisting the school system with security assessments/plans.  Our Office was the first agency in the region to provide a Golf Cart DUI Program to educate student drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving.  The Crime Prevention Specialists work with individuals and businesses to provide tips for keeping their homes or businesses as safe as possible and are also trained in conducting business and home security surveys upon request.  Contact the Crime Prevention section via e-mail.
