Frog Hoppers (ages 6-10)
Frog Hoppers summer day camp is a great way for children to experience education and recreation in the outdoors. This is a well structured camp that will involve small group learning activities in Mid-County Park around the Frog Pond. This camp entails arts and crafts, nature activities and hikes, sports and games, and also includes two weekly swim lessons and free swim time at the Frog Pond. Camp is held daily, rain or shine. Qualified, trained and experienced counselors will initiate the fun and activities that your child will remember forever. Application forms and registration packets are available at the MCPR office at the Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. Camp will be held Monday-Friday and taught in weekly sessions with drop-off after 8 a.m. and pick-up by 5:30 p.m. A late pick-up fee of $1 per minute will be applied after 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, so register early! The registration deadline will be the Wednesday prior to the week of camp. *Note: Child is eligible for camp from the time they are entering first grade to the time they are entering sixth grade; after they have left sixth grade, they are no longer eligible. $125

Frog Hopper Camp Pool Party
We will hold a FREE pool party for all Frog Hopper Camp participants and their families at Montgomery County's very own Frog Pond swimming pool! This is our way of saying 'thank you' for all the fun memories and continued support of Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Programs. FREE

Junior Master Gardener Day Camp (grades 3-5)
The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech and Montgomery County 4-H are hosting a one-week summer half-day camp based on the Junior Master Gardener program. Participants will be involved in hands-on activities that relate to a nature theme of the day. We will learn about plants, insects, soils, gardening and nutrition. All activities will be fun - yet educational! The half-day camp will be led by faculty, staff and experienced volunteers. The fee will cover supplies and a mid-morning snack each day. $50

Rocket Camp (grades 5-8)
Spend each morning building and testing your very own model rocket! Propelled by Estes solid rocket engines, our rockets will be built by campers from scratch and tested in an open field on days when wind conditions are appropriate. We will also be visited by one or more adult hobbyists who will demonstrate larger, more advanced rockets! $150

Lego/Robotic Camp (grades 4-5)
Tired of chores?! Using Lego Mindstorms' Robotic NXT Invention System you might actually invent a machine to pick up trash or even write your name on your homework! This four-day camp will give children entering the 4th through 6th grades the opportunity to build and program small Lego robots. This is a great experience for any child who is considering joining a Lego League team in the fall. The instructor for this camp is the head coach for the Montgomery County Public Schools robotics team, known nationally as "Team 401." Your robot will utilize infrared sensors for a new way to control every movement you ask it to perform.  $150

Go Green Camp (grades 4th-6th)
A 4-day Exploration of Alternative Energy and Sustainable Living! This camp for fourth, fifth and sixth graders will explore the many different ways "Next Generation" alternative energy technologies are being used to power our everyday lives. Each day will have a different theme: wind energy, harness the power of the wind to produce electricity; hydro-electric power, the energy of moving water converted into work and electricity; thermo-solar, infrared energy from the sun is converted to hot water or steam; solar electric, light energy from the sun is converted to electrical current. All campers will visit a local alternative energy vendor AND make and take home their own solar powered vehicle! $150
