Welcome to the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation (MCPR) Athletics homepage!
Parks and Recreation offers youth athletics focusing on pre-K, elementary and middle school age children and the approach that recreational sports should place more emphasis on educational and social benefits rather than competition. Athletic programming places a strong focus on good sportsmanship - not only from participants, but from parents and spectators, too. Each program is built around teaching the fundamentals of each respective game. Ultimately, it is our goal to ensure that every participant receives an enjoyable and lasting recreation experience in a safe and positive environment.

Auburn Helmet Study Goes Nationwide
Last football season, Virginia Tech approached us here at MCPR about doing a youth football helmet study. The first study ever on youth football helmets was done by Virginia Tech with the help of Coach John Clark and his assistants and the great parents and players of the Auburn Mite Eagles. Stone Phillips, formerly of NBC, visited Montgomery County and produced the story to be shown nationwide. Thanks to Mr. Phillips and his crew for all their time and effort.
