At the Frog Pond we offer a broad range of programs with a trained and dedicated staff. The Frog Pond is seeking a qualified and well-trained Pool Manager, Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructors, along with friendly front gate staff for our summer 2011 season. We will also be offering a Red Cross Certified Lifeguarding Course and also a CPR and First Aid recertification course this spring. Our Lifeguard training program will now allow participants,If you apply by application deadline and are hired by Montgomery County Parks and Recreation you will receive $75 back from the price of the class. This class does not guarantee a job with Montgomery County, your application will be treated as any other applicant.  Check below for dates.We will begin taking applications on March 1, 2012 and will stop taking applications at 5 p.m., April 12, 2012. Check here for current County job openings.

 
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course

The American Red Cross certified course will provide you with the necessary skills to become a Certified Lifeguard. This course will include American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguarding Training. Persons interested in the class should be strong swimmers and come prepared to be challenged with these new skills. After completion of the course you will receive a certification card for all of the skills listed above. If you apply in the above timeline and if you are selected for an interview and hired with Montgomery County Parks and Recreation you will receive a $75 refund at the end of the pool season, please note: taking this class does not guarantee a job with Mont. County Parks and Rec., your application will be considered with all other applicants. However for consideration you must list your expected date of completion for the course on your application. Deadline is April 29th. $200

CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer

This course offers CPR and First Aid training for the professional rescuer. This is an excellent form of CPR and First Aid training for those involved in Summer Camps or in fast paced recreational activities. This class will give you the tools necessary to be prepared for any situation that may arise. $45

Pool Manager requirements and abilities

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of first aid equipment and procedures
  • Ability to tactfully deal with the public and enforce the rules and regulations of the pool facility
  • Knowledge and experience in managing chemicals, pump and filter systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and the public
  • Ability to properly prepare and maintain pool operation checklists and reports

Experience and training:

  • Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED training
  • Certified pool operator certificate
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years guard experience
 
Head Guard requirements and abilities

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to deal with the public in an understanding, tactful and diplomatic manner
  • Ability and knowledge of chemical and mechanical operations
  • Ability to manager personnel

Experience and training:

  • Must be 18 years of age and possess Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED training; prefer Water Safety Instruction certification
  • Minimum two years lifeguard experience
 
Lifeguard training and abilities

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must be alert for any potential danger
  • Must always stress safety
  • Ability to meet emergencies and remain calm when they arise
  • Ability to operate all safety equipment and procedures

Required experience and training:

  • Must have a current Lifeguard Training Certificate, First Aid and CPR; Prefer Water Safety Instruction certification
 
Front Gate Attendant training and abilities

Preferred certifications:

  • American Red Cross First Aid and CPR

Experience:

  • Experience in interacting with the public
  • Knowledge and experience ahndling money and daily reports

General ability:

  • Ability to relate with the public in an understanding manner and to have knowledge of pool rules

Montgomery County Parks and Rec will be offering the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course this spring.
