What to do with a will:

If a will exists, the original will and a copy of the death certificate is required. An appointment is required. No walk-ins, please. Contact the Clerk's office for more information on the correct documents to have with you and to set up an appointment.


Land recordings

As the county recorder, the Clerk files the following documents, along with several others:

  • deeds
  • deeds of trust
  • certificates of satisfaction
  • foreclosures
  • homestead deeds
  • powers of attorney
  • plats
  • easements
  • covenants & restrictions

All separately notarized riders and other separately notarized documents must have separate cover sheets.

Fees (for deeds and other land transfers)

  • Grantor's tax - $1 per $1,000 value
  • State tax - 25 cents per $100
  • Local tax - .08333 cents per $100
  • Clerk's fees
    • 1 - 10 pages = $32
    • 10 + pages = $46
