Comments from Past Participants

"I have a much deeper respect for all the government employees. I took a lot of the services provided to the citizens of the town and county for granted but now I realize how much work goes into providing top-notch services. One of the things that stood out to me is how all of the individuals who spoke to us are so proud of their jobs and made us feel that taking care of Christiansburg and Montgomery County is very important to them. It makes me feel good to know that we have such dedicated individuals running our town and county."

"What I took away from this Academy experience was an increased respect and appreciation for the open and close inter-working of all those involved with Town and County Government positions that share in services, ideas, facilities, equipment and manpower for the benefit of the public. I now have a better understanding of just how much planning, work and dedication actually go into trying to make everything 'just right,' safe and enjoyable for everyone in the community."

"We were impressed with the level of training requirements, qualifications and professionalism required for the Town and County police and emergency personnel. These training requirements are something we expected of those serving in a large city, and were quite surprised to find those same requirements imposed in our small community of paid, part-time and volunteer services."

"Being new to the area, our eyes have been opened by this Academy and we recommend this course to every taxpayer."

"It wasn't just a classroom setting. It was very hands-on. The guest speakers were knowledgeable and entertaining and spoke on a variety of interesting topics. They kept us very engaged."
